Thorne Crest to Host “Rightsizing for Seniors” Presentation

Posted on: January 10, 2017

Thorne Crest Senior Living Community will be hosting a free “Rightsizing for Seniors” presentation at the community on Wednesday, January 18 at 2pm. The open-to-the-public presentation will focus on how to scale back on your possessions in order to create a simpler living environment.

“Rightsizing” is an approach used to simplify our surroundings while keeping what we need or cherish most. But how do we deal with the accumulation of things that comes from living in the same house for 30+ years?  When we’ve collected decades of memories and “stuff”, it can be overwhelming just thinking about it.

The principles of Rightsizing can help with the following:
• When you are considering a move to a smaller space.
• When you are trying to scale back on your possessions in order to create a simpler living environment.
• When you are helping an elder family member or  friend with these tasks.

Join us at this presentation to get ideas from an expert in the field.  Kimberly Alwin, owner of A Smooth Move in Austin & Rochester, will share her insights in a fun and interactive presentation that tackles how to plan for a move and how to Rightsize your precious belongings.

Attendees will learn about what to keep and what to do with the rest, as well as ways to make sure the space we live in works well for us.  For those who are planning a move, there will be tips on layout planning and pitfalls to avoid when making a move.
